Hello there! So you have some interest in birth? Or maybe even some love for it?
Well then, you will like it here! I will be sharing dozens of birth stories from my years as a home birth apprentice. My experiences, my lessons, my thoughts, and lots and lots of love will be shared within this blog.
I am apprenticing as a home birth midwife and will be seeking certification as a Certified Professional Midwife. My actual apprenticeship began on November 11, 2011. I have attended almost 50 births (I am a baby midwife) with nine more to go before I can take the certifying exam. I have YEARS left before I will call myself a "Full Grown" midwife but I am in no rush. I am humbled to remind myself that
I know what I don't know and want as much time as I can to know what I need to know :) Got that?
It took me several years to really decide to do this. Did I really want to share such personal experiences with an often times judgmental society? Did I even have the right to share such delicate images? But as the months have past and the memories have somewhat blurred, I feel a strong desire to be a part of our culture that is saturating the world with positive birth stories. Birth is an event that happens to every single person on the planet, but far too many disregard its importance in the role it plays in the creation of our species. I thought it would be a unique twist to have the birth attendant's version of birth be heard. I have written or journaled every birth I have attended so that I could revisit those experiences and continue to learn from them. Now I share with you in hopes that you too can glean something from these amazing births!
I am not here to paint an unrealistic picture or to offer any sort of medical advice. I'm not here to tell you that home birth is some how superior or where every baby should be born, because it isn't. It is an option for healthy low risk women and babies. It is an option and should always be an option for those women and families who want to choose to birth at home. This space in the interwebs is to share the power of birth, it's element of transformation, the generational energies that fill sacred spaces, the waves of love, and the divine spirit that is Motherbaby. If you like to read birth stories, then without further ado, lets start with the birth that started my journey into midwifery.
